Who is achilles?
Achilles International is a global non-profit organization that is dedicated to enabling people with disabilities to participate in mainstream athletics and long-distance running events. The organization was founded in 1983 by Dick Traum, the first amputee to complete the New York City Marathon. Achilles International has since grown and established chapters and affiliates in various cities and countries around the world. The organization provides a supportive community and resources for individuals with disabilities, including adaptive equipment, training programs, and mentorship. They believe in the transformative power of sports and aim to promote inclusivity and equal access to athletic opportunities for people of all abilities. Achilles International often organizes events and training programs for its members, allowing them to participate in various running and athletic activities, from 5K races to marathons. The organization's mission is to help individuals with disabilities build confidence, improve physical fitness, and foster a sense of belonging within the running and athletic community.

eversource hartford marathon
Achilles CT participated in their 10th annual Eversource Hartford Marathon and Half Marathon in October 2022. I was tasked with creating an updated media kit for the race.
The kit includes:
Three challenge sheets
Two YouTube videos
Sponsorship flyer
Promotional material & social media content
Check out the blog post here!
The challenge sheets were meant to bring in sponsorships and support. To appeal to the right audiences they were broken down into three categories: Athlete & Volunteer, Run Club and Corporate. The sheets were sent out via email as well as posted on the Achilles website.

Corporate
The largest and most time consuming part of the media kit is the promotional videos. The audience’s for the videos are Volunteer and Sponsorship. Since the two audiences have different intentions, the video themselves had to appeal to each group. The overall tone and content of the videos reflect this.

The sponsorship flyer was sent out to past, and potential sponsors to encourage them to get involved. It was a challenge to make all of the necessary information onto one page while also making it easy to look at and read. I made over ten compositions just trying out different formats before deciding on the final one. Check out some of the other layouts below.
